Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and the ability to circulate and transition newborns.

Details

• Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit with 200-300 births per month
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• RN will rotate through triage, antepartum, labor, circulate, and transition duties (no post-partum)
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Holiday coverage expected

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and NRP
• AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Must be able to circulate and transition babies as well as manage labor patients
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, venous blood draws, and IV/infusion pump management
• Experience with high-risk antepartum care, fetal monitoring (external and internal), and IUPC placement preferred
• Experience with vaginal and C-section deliveries, including circulating, recovery, and hemorrhage/shock management
• Two supervisor references from within the last 3 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive obstetrical nursing care across antepartum, labor, delivery, and transition phases
• Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation, and newborn care in the delivery room
• Administer medications including antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and terbutaline
• Perform newborn assessments including APGAR scoring, ID/security banding, and thermoregulation
• Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns and recognize abnormal patterns
• Support patients with epidural or general anesthesia and manage pain via PCA
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
• Onsite drug screen required upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with no exceptions for positive results
• First-time travelers considered as long as they meet the required experience qualifications
