Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

• 19-bed Labor and Delivery unit
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• 1:2-3 patient ratio
• Facility performs 100-200 births per month
• Floating to Postpartum/Mother Baby required
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Current BLS and NRP certification required
• AWHONN Intermediate certification required
• AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Competent in management of second stage labor
• Competent in performing vaginal exams
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood/blood products
• Experience with fetal monitoring (external and internal) and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries
• Experience with amnioinfusion, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and mother/baby settings
• Perform neonatal care in the delivery room, including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation
• Administer medications such as Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, and terbutaline
• Support postpartum care including couplet care, breastfeeding/lactation support, and wound assessment
• Assist with pain management including epidural anesthesia and opioid administration
• Participate in rapid response/code team activations as needed
• Comfortable transitioning newborns immediately following delivery
• First-time travelers accepted, provided candidate has required L&D experience
• Candidates residing in Moore County are not eligible for this position
• All other local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Facility performs pre-employment drug screening upon arrival to assignment
• Previous FirstHealth employees must have been separated from employment for at least one year to be considered
