Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN with a KS or compact license and at least 2 years of L&D experience for a night shift contract requiring float coverage to Med/Surg and ER.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital, with floating to Med/Surg and ER departments
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 6p-6a, with every other weekend required
• When floating with no L&D patients, assists with Skilled Swing Bed, medical, or ER patients as a helper or assigned caregiver
• Med/Surg patients are typically Skilled Swing Bed or stable Observation/Acute cases needing IV antibiotics, fluids, or strengthening care
• ER assignments typically involve low-acuity cases such as ear infections, minor coughs, UTIs, IV fluids, or minor lacerations
• Assists as a helping hand during trauma or critical ER cases by recording events, starting IVs, taking vitals, or gathering supplies
• Five-bed ER including two trauma bays, two treatment rooms, and one triage/outpatient room
• Each shift staffed with four nurses (two OB/ER/Med-Surg skillset, two ER/Med-Surg skillset), with one designated as charge nurse
• All departments share a central nurses station for charting and collaboration
• Block scheduling is available

Requirements

• Active KS or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS, FHM, and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in Labor & Delivery and support Med/Surg and ER units as needed
• Charge nurse role includes assisting staff, making patient assignments, and other leadership duties
• Orientation includes education specific to Med/Surg and ER areas
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration
