Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk, high-volume unit requiring at least 1 year of high-risk L&D experience and WA or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Labor & Delivery unit with 31 rooms/beds and 4 ORs
  • High risk, high volume L&D unit serving midwifery clients, private OBs, Adult Recovery Services, and community care clinics
  • Average daily census of 15 with 500-600 deliveries per month
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
  • Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
  • Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
  • Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum and sister facilities providing Mother/Baby care
  • Functions as Baby Nurse during delivery, continuing newborn care until transfer to postpartum
  • Circulates for deliveries and provides newborn care including eyes, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments
  • Uses electronic fetal monitoring and administers Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
  • Epic EMR used

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required; 2-3 years preferred
  • High-risk L&D experience required
  • Experience with Epic EMR required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • Skilled in labor and delivery management, amnioinfusion, high-risk and vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage/shock management, C-section recovery, and sterile vaginal exams
  • 2 references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years required, may include Charge RNs/Leads

Additional Information

  • Provides direct patient care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care areas
  • Supports high-risk antepartum, couplet care, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage cases
  • Performs neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, and infant ID/security banding
  • Assists with pain management including epidural, nitrous oxide, and opioid administration
  • Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
  • First-time travelers accepted with required experience
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Pre-approved time off considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Travelers may float between sister facilities within the system
  • Former permanent staff must have a 3-month separation period and reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible to return as a traveler
