Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment at a high-risk L&D unit, requiring an active AK RN license and at least 1 year of L&D experience.

Details

• Level II Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 407 staffed beds
• High-risk Labor & Delivery unit with 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms
• Average of 7 deliveries daily, with up to 14 patients during high induction or antepartum volume
• OB Triage sees 4-5 third trimester testing patients daily plus additional triage patients
• Facility averages 100-200 births per month
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• May float to similar units within the hospital or nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active AK RN license required in hand for consideration
• BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Advanced, and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Charge experience preferred or willingness to train as charge
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, fetal monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement, and labor management
• Experience with high-risk antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care preferred
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and high-risk deliveries including circulating, scrubbing, and recovery roles
• Administer medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips
• Perform neonatal care duties including APGAR scoring, cord care, and newborn assessments
• Support patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, preterm labor, and multiple gestation
• Scrubs provided by facility
• Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Hepatitis B vaccination required; titers and declinations not accepted
• Former Providence permanent staff must be separated for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may work a maximum of 1 calendar year per assignment, followed by a 6-month break before returning to the same facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO must be submitted and approved individually at time of offer
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
