Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a Magnet-recognized teaching hospital, requiring 3+ years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
• Unit includes 7 labor beds, 3 triage bays, 2 PACU beds, and 16 mother-baby beds
• Cares for adult women of childbearing age
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule, either 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Weekend shifts required unless otherwise stated on posted schedule
• Floating within the hospital required; no floating to sister facilities
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
• Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with high-risk delivery, C-section circulation/recovery, and vaginal delivery assistance
• Skilled in fetal monitoring including external and internal (IUPC) methods
• Experience managing high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, HELLP syndrome, and preterm labor
• Experience with labor induction/augmentation medications (Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Terbutaline, Prostaglandins)
• Newborn care experience including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and VBAC management
• Support antepartum and postpartum patients including breastfeeding and lactation support
• Perform fetal heart rate monitoring and recognize abnormal patterns
• Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level 4 trauma center status
• Scrubs provided for OR personnel; any color accepted
• First-time travelers considered only if they have 3+ years of L&D experience
• Prior UW staff must have 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• RTO limited to 1 week maximum; holiday coverage required
• No RTO accommodated during first two weeks of assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
