Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of Regional Perinatal Center experience and multiple perinatal certifications.

Details

• Labor & Delivery unit within a high acuity, diverse teaching hospital setting
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2 based on acuity
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required as needed
• Float requirement to MotherBaby and Antepartum units, which share the same floor
• Floating assignments include patient ratios based on acuity at time of float
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Scrubs are provided

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, FHM, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate must be on-hand upon submittal
• AWHONN Advanced and AWHONN Beginner certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Regional Perinatal Center experience required
• Strong Labor & Delivery experience required for this high acuity unit
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, cardiac monitoring, and labor and delivery management
• Experience with high-risk delivery, C-section circulation, and hemorrhage/shock management required
• Knowledge of fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and neonatal resuscitation
• Manage high-risk antepartum and postpartum patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and preterm labor
• Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives as part of labor management
• Support newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and discharge teaching to parents
• Facility performs over 300 births per month and serves as a teaching hospital
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Previous RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 1 year to be eligible for this travel assignment
