Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2+ years of specialty experience and a KY or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a community hospital's Labor and Delivery unit with LDRP and Mother/Baby care
• Support low-risk obstetrical patients at a facility with 100-200 births per month
• Perform antepartum care, obstetrical triage, and external fetal heart monitoring (EFM)
• Provide labor and delivery management including circulating and recovering C-sections and sterile vaginal exams
• Deliver newborn care including assessment, discharge teaching, infant identification, and management of newborn hypoglycemia, phototherapy, and thermoregulation
• Administer pain management including epidural anesthesia, opioids, and IV PCA
• Provide postpartum care for vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension management
• Support breastfeeding/lactation, episiotomy/incisional care, and Foley catheter management
• Maintain central lines (CVC/PICC) and administer IV therapy, phlebotomy, and insulin drips
• Work a rotating 36/48 schedule totaling 84 hours per two weeks (one week of 3x12 shifts, next week of 4x12 shifts), Day shift 7:00-19:30

Requirements

• Active KY or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, and NRP
• Community-level hospital experience required
• Experience with any charting system required
• Two professional references required: one from a Charge nurse or higher and one from a supervisor, both completed within the last year
• Copy of certifications required for consideration
• Valid driver's license matching permanent address required for consideration
• Full middle name required for consideration

Additional Information

• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Up to 7 days of RTO considered if presented upfront with no changes accepted after submission
• Required to work either a major or minor shift on every holiday
• Traveler pairs accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
• Candidates may only apply to one position at a time
• After completing one year of assignment, travelers must take a minimum 6-month break before returning to this system
• Any license or background check issues must be disclosed upfront
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
