Care Career is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Santa Maria, California.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring, antepartum, postpartum, and high-risk obstetric patients.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal well-being using continuous fetal monitoring.
  • Assist physicians during vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections.
  • Circulate during C-section procedures and maintain a sterile environment.
  • Assess, monitor, and manage patients with high-risk pregnancies, including pre-eclampsia, insulin-dependent diabetes, substance use disorders, and other obstetric complications.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and blood products as ordered.
  • Care for mothers and newborns during the immediate postpartum period when floating to Postpartum.
  • Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
  • Document patient care accurately using the Cerner electronic medical record system.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesia providers, pediatric teams, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide safe, high-quality patient care.

Job Requirements: Active RN license Current BLS Certification ACLS Certification Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN) NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) COVID-19 vaccination required Previous Labor & Delivery experience required Circulating for C-sections is required Scrubbing for C-sections is preferred Ability to care for high-risk obstetric patients Willingness to float to the Postpartum unit when needed
