Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a hospital assignment requiring 1+ year of L&D experience and an active CA RN license.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital caring for a high-risk, culturally diverse OB population
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 6:00-16:00)
• 11 rooms/15 beds with an average daily census of 15-20 patients and approximately 20 visits per day
• Postpartum experience preferred
• Floating required to meet facility needs, with travelers prioritized to float within their scope
• Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
• RNs circulate on cesarean sections
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in hand at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, NRP
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, drawing venous blood, starting and maintaining IVs, use of infusion pumps/drips/IV monitoring
• Labor and Delivery skills required: amnioinfusion, assisting with high risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, recovering C-section patients, sterile vaginal exams
• Experience with medications such as anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, Pitocin (oxytocin), and terbutaline required
• Neonatal care skills required: APGAR scoring, baby catching, ID/security banding, use of radiant warmers/thermoregulation
• Antepartum care skills required: NST, reflex checks/edema assessment/clonus, sterile vaginal exam, triage of obstetrical patients, use of EFM
• Newborn care skills required: car seat education, cord care, discharge teaching, infant identification, newborn assessment, newborn hypoglycemia management, phototherapy, thermoregulation
• Postpartum care skills required: breastfeeding/lactation support, foley catheter insertion/management, fundus/lochia/perineum care, wound assessment/care
• Experience with postpartum complications required: cesarean section, couplet care, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy induced hypertension
• Pain management skills required: epidural anesthesia, nitrous oxide, pain assessment and management, use of IV PCA
• Fetal monitoring skills required: recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, use of external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration
• Isolation precautions/PPE and vaccine administration competency required
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care within a high-acuity OB unit
• Must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility as a permanent employee, traveler, or per-diem staff, including location and dates
• Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not live within 50 miles of the facility
• Travelers are expected to float between sister facilities as needed; refusal to float may result in termination of assignment
• RTO requests limited to no more than 7 days and must be submitted upfront; post-submission RTO requests may not be granted
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
• Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
