Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital with fewer than 100 births per month
• Patient population includes antepartum, L&D, LDRP, and mother/baby care
• Patient ratio of 1:1
• Night shift schedule with 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• May consider 36 hours per week
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active RN license (TX or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Beginner/Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery required
• Skilled in labor and delivery management including vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, and hemorrhage/shock management
• Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal heart monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Experience with newborn care including APGAR scoring, cord care, and discharge teaching
• Altera charting experience preferred but not required
• Travel experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include antepartum care, labor and delivery management, postpartum care, and newborn care
• Duties may include assisting with vaginal deliveries, circulating or scrubbing for C-sections, and recovering C-section patients
• Provides triage of obstetrical patients and performs NST and sterile vaginal exams
• Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with automatic cancellation for a positive result
• Candidates must live within a 150-mile radius for RN positions to be considered local
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Previous permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
