Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2 years of L&D experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit in a hospital with fewer than 100 births per month
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• May consider 36 hours/week
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Provides care across antepartum, L&D, mother/baby, and postpartum settings

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Beginner and Intermediate
• AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
• Experience with fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Skilled in labor and delivery management, including assisting with vaginal deliveries and circulating/scrubbing for C-sections
• Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Newborn care skills including APGAR scoring, cord care, and newborn assessment
• Postpartum care experience including breastfeeding/lactation support and fundus/lochia/perineum care
• Altera charting experience preferred but not required
• Prior travel experience preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include triage of obstetrical patients, fetal monitoring, and assisting with vaginal and cesarean deliveries
• Skills such as spiral electrode placement, IUPC placement, and amnioinfusion are preferred
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with mandatory cancellation for any positive result
• Candidates should avoid substances that could result in a positive drug screen, including CBD products, prior to arrival onsite
• Clinicians must complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the offer or have a completion plan in place
• Must reside within 150 miles for RN/LVN local radius eligibility
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Previous permanent staff must have separated from employment for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Orientation includes non-billable training modules averaging 6-8 hours
