Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care to patients in the Labor and Delivery unit, managing high-risk obstetric cases and ensuring safe patient outcomes.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
• Holiday Requirement: Must work one major and one minor holiday

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Labor and Delivery (L&D)
• Bed Capacity: 18 L&D rooms, 6 triage spaces, 8 shared women's care center overflow beds, and 2 OR rooms
• Patient Ratio: Follows state guidelines for L&D and postpartum
• Average Births: Approximately 250 per month
• Special Services: 24/7 OB and anesthesia coverage, Level 2 NICU in-house

Responsibilities

• Provide care for L&D, recovery, postpartum, and women's health patients
• Manage high-risk obstetric cases and facilitate transfers for complex maternal or fetal complications
• Administer medications and manage the labor process utilizing safety protocols
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including NICU and respiratory therapy
• Utilize electronic medical records, including Cerner and fetal monitoring systems
• Participate in unit safety and quality initiatives

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Strong understanding of perinatal safety protocols and evidence-based practices
• Ability to start IVs and manage patients independently
• Experience with Cerner charting preferred

Additional Information

This position requires the ability to float to different areas within the unit as needed. All nurses will engage in L&D, postpartum care, and women's health responsibilities. Floor-specific orientation and ongoing professional development will be provided.
