Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring CA licensure and AWHONN Intermediate certification.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit caring for a high-risk OB, culturally diverse patient population
• Facility performs over 300 births per month
• 11 labor/delivery rooms with 15 total beds and an average daily census of 15-20 patients
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
• Floating required to meet facility needs, with travelers given priority to float within their scope of practice
• RNs circulate on cesarean sections
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor and Delivery experience required
• Experience with patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:3
• Skilled in labor and delivery management including assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and sterile vaginal exams
• Experience with fetal monitoring including external fetal heart monitoring (EFM) and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate therapy, and antihypertensives
• Skilled in postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care and breastfeeding support
• Newborn care skills including APGAR scoring, cord care, and newborn assessment
• Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

• Post-partum experience preferred
• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests limited to no more than 7 days and must be submitted upfront
• Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel rate
• Former Providence permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period
