Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
• Facility performs approximately 200-300 births per month in a teaching hospital setting
• Patient population includes labor/preterm labor, high risk antepartum, low risk antepartum, and low risk L&D cases
• Duties include circulating, OB-GYN, pre-op, post-op, scrub, couplet care, and transition nursery care
• Nurses attend all deliveries including high risk deliveries and GYN surgeries
• Staffing ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:3
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Floating required to Post-Partum and NICU based on skill set, as well as to sister facilities nearby

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Epic EMR experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
• ACLS certification preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, central line maintenance (CVC/PICC), anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensive administration, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
• Labor and delivery management skills including assisting with high risk deliveries, circulating and recovering C-sections, sterile vaginal exams, and epidural anesthesia support
• Experience with fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, antepartum and postpartum care, and wound assessment/care
• Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
• Assist with high risk deliveries and GYN surgeries, and provide couplet care and transition nursery support
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Candidates must live within a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Former permanent staff at this specific facility must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Former permanent employees of other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) are eligible for a travel contract after a minimum 3-month separation
• All Swedish facilities honor active compact licenses
• Travelers should expect to float between sister facilities within the state as needed
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process; requests beyond 7 days may delay offers
