Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- Hospital-based Labor & Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
- Patient population includes labor, preterm labor, high-risk deliveries, low-risk antepartum, post-op/pre-op, and GYN surgery cases
- Performs circulating, scrubbing, OB-GYN, couplet care, and transition nursery duties
- Special procedures include blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blanket, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, wound vac, and administration of heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
- Staffing ratio of 1:1–3
- Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00–19:30
- 26-week contract
- Floating required to postpartum and NICU based on skill set; travelers may also be expected to float between sister facilities within the state
- Epic EMR experience required
- Facility delivers 200–300 births per month
- Local candidates accepted (within 50 miles of the facility)
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate; ACLS preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, central line maintenance (CVC/PICC), anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
- Skills in L&D management including assisting with high-risk deliveries, circulating and recovering C-sections, sterile vaginal exams, fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, and epidural/PCA pain management
- 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required prior to start
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility (permanent, travel, or per-diem), including location and dates
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include antepartum and postpartum care, OB triage, fetal monitoring, wound assessment, isolation precautions/PPE, and post-op recovery
- Travelers who refuse to float between facilities may be subject to termination of assignment
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be granted
- Former permanent staff of any Providence Swedish facility must have been separated for at least 3 months before being eligible to return as a traveler, and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Former permanent employees of non-Swedish Providence facilities are eligible after a 3-month separation
- Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at the same rate
