Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 3-5 years of high-acuity, high-risk L&D experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit with 4 ORs, 31 rooms/beds
• Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
• Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
• Patient ratio of 1:1-2
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
• Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Float required to Postpartum/Antepartum units and may float to sister facilities offering Mother/Baby services
• Epic EMR experience required
• Uses electronic fetal monitoring equipment

Requirements

• Active RN license (WA state or compact) required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate preferred
• Minimum of 3-5 years of Labor and Delivery experience in a high-acuity, high-paced environment required
• High-risk L&D experience required, 5 years preferred
• Must be able to function as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing continued newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Must be able to circulate for deliveries and provide comprehensive newborn care including eye and Vitamin K injections, thigh injections, and newborn assessments
• Experience with high-risk delivery, vaginal delivery, C-section circulation, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management required
• Experience with medication administration including anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin, and Terbutaline required
• Neonatal care skills required including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, ID/security banding, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation
• Postpartum care experience required including couplet care, postpartum hemorrhage management, and care of multiple births
• Fetal monitoring skills required including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Current supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years
• Current Nursys verification required with proof provided prior to consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care following AWHONN staffing guidelines
• Responsibilities include triage of obstetrical patients, sterile vaginal exams, and assisting with vaginal and cesarean deliveries
• Provide pain management support including epidural, general anesthesia, and opioid administration
• Provide postpartum care including lactation support, episiotomy/incisional care, and fundus/lochia/perineum care
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Candidates must live within a 50-mile radius of the facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Pre-approved time off is considered on a case-by-case basis and must be requested upfront during the application process
• Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
• Former permanent staff at other Providence facilities are eligible for a travel contract if separated for at least 3 months
• Candidates can only be submitted to one Providence facility at a time
