Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring high-risk L&D experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center teaching hospital setting
  • Labor and Delivery unit caring for high-risk obstetrical patients
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
  • Some weekend shifts required
  • Floating between units required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Labor ratio 1:2 and Antepartum ratio 1:3
  • Cares for high-risk labor and delivery, antepartum, pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiples, and VBAC/TOLAC patients
  • Involves active labor management, induction/augmentation, and maternal emergencies
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Experience with 1:2 patient ratios required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, NRP
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line maintenance
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including adult and neonatal arrest
  • Proficient in labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, high-risk and vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation/scrub, and hemorrhage/shock management
  • Experience administering high-risk medications such as magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and antihypertensives
  • Skilled in antepartum care including NST, OCT, and fetal monitoring (external and internal)
  • Experience caring for patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and preterm labor
  • Postpartum and newborn care skills including fundus/lochia checks, lactation support, and newborn assessment
  • 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
  • Full SSN and DOB required for compliance

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, antepartum, and postpartum nursing care in a high-risk obstetrical setting
  • Support maternal emergencies and high-acuity deliveries in a teaching hospital environment
  • May be required to float between sister facilities within the state
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront; minimal flexibility once contract begins
  • Local candidates accepted at lower bill rate
  • Local radius rule of 50 miles applies
  • Former Providence permanent employees must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travelers and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility as permanent, travel, or per-diem staff
  • First-time travelers with independent L&D experience will be considered
