Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a Level III high-risk perinatal unit, requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and WA or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
  • Level III high-risk perinatal unit with 19 L&D beds, 10 antepartum beds, 30 postpartum beds, 3 ORs, 2 PACU bays, and a 7-bay triage area
  • Facility handles 200-300 deliveries per month
  • Target staffing ratios of 1:1 in labor, 1:3 couplet care in postpartum with CNA support, and 1:2-3 in antepartum
  • Unit supported by surgical techs, CNAs, CRNAs, health unit coordinators, and 3-4 delivering providers around the clock
  • Weekend shifts required
  • Floating required to Postpartum and potentially to sister facilities
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required, following AWHONN standards
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Monitoring
  • AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Must be competent in sterile vaginal exams (SVE), a hard requirement for this role
  • Experience in facilities with 200+ deliveries preferred, though candidates from 100-200 delivery facilities will be considered
  • Skills required include labor and delivery management, assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and managing hemorrhage/shock situations
  • Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
  • Experience with external fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across labor, antepartum, and postpartum units including high-risk pregnancy management
  • Support neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, newborn assessment, and thermoregulation
  • Assist with postpartum care including couplet care, cesarean section recovery, and breastfeeding support
  • Candidates must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Scrubs of any color permitted except reddish-orange
  • Parking is facility-paid
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they live outside the 50-mile radius
