Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) to provide comprehensive care to expectant mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. The RN will manage high-risk pregnancies, monitor fetal health, assist with deliveries and C-sections, and provide safe, quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor maternal and fetal health throughout labor and delivery.
- Provide care to patients in labor, antepartum, and postpartum settings.
- Perform fetal monitoring and recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
- Assist physicians with vaginal deliveries and C-sections.
- Circulate during C-sections and provide post-operative recovery care.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, Pitocin, and Magnesium Sulfate as ordered.
- Manage high-risk pregnancies, including preeclampsia and preterm labor.
- Provide newborn assessments, neonatal resuscitation, and APGAR scoring.
- Assist with OB triage, cervical examinations, and non-stress tests.
- Support breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and patient education.
- Maintain accurate documentation using Epic.
- Float to similar units as needed.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience.
- Active Alaska RN license required for Auto Offer.
- BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Advanced, and NRP certifications required.
- Experience with high-risk labor and delivery patients.
- Experience with fetal monitoring, vaginal deliveries, and C-sections.
- Epic charting experience required.
- Charge experience preferred or willingness to train as charge nurse.
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility.
- First-time travelers accepted.
