Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a high-risk Labor & Delivery position requiring at least 1 year of high-risk L&D experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 rooms/beds and 4 ORs
• Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
• Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, Adult Recovery Services (substance recovery support), and community care clinic patients
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
• Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum and sister facilities providing Mother/Baby care
• Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience required, 2-3 years preferred
• High-risk L&D experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with patient ratios of 1:1-2
• Skilled in circulating for C-sections, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management
• Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
• Able to function as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing newborn care including eyes, thighs, and assessments until transfer to postpartum
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for compliance

Additional Information

• Circulate for deliveries and provide comprehensive newborn care including eye care, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments
• Functions as Baby Nurse during delivery and continues newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
• First-time travelers accepted with required experience
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate within a 50-mile radius
• Former Providence permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month separation if outside the 50-mile radius
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or registry/per-diem roles
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Pre-approved time off considered on a case-by-case basis and must be requested at time of submission
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the region
