Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring at least 1 year of L&D experience and a CA RN license.

Details

  • Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit caring for a high-risk OB, culturally diverse patient population
  • RNs circulate on cesarean sections as part of unit responsibilities
  • Unit has 11-15 rooms/beds with an average daily census of 15-20 patients and around 20 visits per day
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 18:00-06:30
  • Weekend shifts required to meet staffing needs
  • Floating required to meet facility needs, with travelers given priority to float within their scope
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required in hand at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, and NRP
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with patient ratios of 1:1-3
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, labor and delivery management, amnioinfusion, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and sterile vaginal exams
  • Experience with medication administration including anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, magnesium sulfate therapy, pitocin, and terbutaline
  • Newborn and postpartum care skills including APGAR scoring, cord care, discharge teaching, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and foley catheter management
  • Experience with external fetal monitoring (EFM) and recognition/treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care
  • Circulate for cesarean sections and assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries
  • May float between sister facilities near the contracted location as part of assignment expectations
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
  • RTO requests limited to no more than 7 days and must be submitted upfront
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate; local candidates within this radius may be accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
  • Candidates must disclose any prior work history at Providence facilities, whether as permanent staff, travel contractor, or per-diem/registry
