Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN with Charge Nurse experience to work nights at a high-risk L&D unit, requiring an active AK RN license in hand.

Details

• High-risk Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospital
• Unit includes 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms
• Average of 7 deliveries daily, with up to 14 patients including inductions and high-risk antepartum cases
• OB Triage sees 4-5 third trimester testing patients daily plus additional triage patients
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• May float to like units within the hospital or nearby affiliate hospitals if needed
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active AK RN license required in hand for auto offer
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Charge Nurse experience preferred or willingness to train as charge
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Advanced, and NRP
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, fetal monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement, and assisting with vaginal and C-section deliveries
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Copies of certifications required for consideration
• Valid state license required, with pending licenses accepted (10-12 week processing time)

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum units, including high-risk cases
• Responsibilities may include managing high-risk deliveries, VBAC trials, pre-eclampsia care, and neonatal resuscitation
• Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma facility recognized as a top hospital in Alaska
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Local candidates not accepted; permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
• Former permanent staff must be separated from the health system for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
• Maximum assignment length of 1 year at this facility, followed by a required 6-month break before returning
• Facility only accepts Hep B vaccination; titers or declinations not accepted
• RTO must be submitted and approved individually at time of offer
