Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to take on a charge nurse role. This position requires the ability to work effectively in a high-risk labor and delivery unit and provide exceptional care to patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee nursing staff and coordinate patient care within the unit.
• Monitor and assess patients in labor, providing necessary support and interventions.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality care during labor and delivery.
• Assist in the onboarding and training of new staff members as needed.
• Provide educational support to patients and families regarding labor and delivery processes.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Alaska.
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience, with charge nurse experience preferred.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced, and NRP.
• Ability to float to like units as needed to meet patient care demands.

Position Details

• Assignment Length: 13 or 26 weeks.
• Shift: 3x12 hours or 4x12 hours on nights.
• Every other weekend availability is required.
• Guaranteed hours: 60 hours per two weeks, with the possibility of being called off for one shift.
• Time off requests will be considered based on individual circumstances.

Unit Information

This is a high-risk labor and delivery unit equipped with:

• 10 OB Triage Rooms
• 10 Labor and Delivery Rooms
• 3 Operating Room Suites
• 4 Post Anesthesia Care Unit Rooms

The unit experiences an average of 7 daily deliveries, with the capacity to handle up to 14 patients, including inductions and high-risk antepartum cases.

Additional Information

Scrubs will be provided, and parking is free. This position does not accommodate block scheduling, and local candidates will not be considered. However, candidates with a pending license are welcome to apply, provided they obtain their license before starting.
