Job Summary: The Labor and Delivery (L&D) registered nurse position is located in a healthcare facility in Peru, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized care for low-risk and high-risk obstetric patients, including stabilizing newborns and managing labor and delivery processes. The position offers an opportunity to work within a Level 1 perinatal/nursery designation environment, supporting both routine and complex obstetric cases.
Job Details:
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM 7:30 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications: Illinois licensed registered nurse with a minimum of 2 years of experience, certifications in NRP, ACLS, BLS, and electronic fetal monitoring (C-EFM)
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in obstetric stabilization of newborns and circulating for cesarean sections
Float: Float to other units as a helping hand, sitter, or for patient safety, with no inpatient behavioral health unit at this location
Certifications: NRP, ACLS, BLS, C-EFM
Common diagnoses/types of patients: Low-risk OB patients, stable newborns ? 36 weeks gestation, high-risk OB patients followed by maternal-fetal medicine during pregnancy
Experience or skills required: Stabilization of the newborn and circulating for cesarean sections
Additional responsibilities: Monitoring fetal heart rate strips via central monitoring systems, assisting with OB procedures, and adhering to unit protocols.
Orientation: 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation prior to start
