Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) unit nurse position is located in Prescott Valley, Arizona. This role involves providing high-quality care within a fast-paced maternity environment, including level II obstetric patients down to 32 weeks gestational age. The nurse will be responsible for clinical assessments, patient monitoring, and participating in unit-specific protocols during night shifts.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, with a 4-week schedule.
  • Required Qualifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Current Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (preferably AWHONN, but others accepted), two years of clinical experience in labor and delivery, licensure to practice nursing, and the ability to interpret fetal monitoring tracings.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with fetal monitoring interpretation, managing IV starts, and administering Magnesium Sulfate.
  • Other Requirements: Unit notes specify sterile technique proficiency, including passing a test on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on the first day of orientation. Certification in Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (not via AWHONN) is also required.
  • Operational Details: On-call 18 hours every four weeks; no floating requirements; hospital-provided scrubs; orientation specific to the unit; use of Cerner Power Chart for charting.
  • Additional Information: The role includes working with OB Techs and front desk schedulers. In-house in-house neonatologists are available 24/7 on call; equipment such as Cpap, vent, and transport is utilized. The facility follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios and maintains a high standard of maternity care.
