Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse (RN) position available in a high-volume obstetric unit. The role involves managing a variety of maternity-related patient care, including routine deliveries, postpartum care, and occasional floating to maternal-child units. The position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment that adheres to AWHONN guidelines, with a focus on patient safety and quality care.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with every other weekend rotation and holiday coverage required.
• Required Qualifications: Active ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and AWHONN (Association of Womens Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) Fetal Monitoring certifications. Minimum of 3 years of relevant obstetric nursing experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in high-volume labor and delivery units with knowledge of electronic fetal monitoring systems, including read-and-interpret skills.
• Float: Float rotation may be required; RNs are expected to float to maternal and baby units as needed.
• Additional Information:
  • The unit includes 12 labor and delivery beds, 4 postpartum beds, 2 triage beds, and specialized rooms for scheduled cesarean sections and postpartum care.
  • An in-house obstetrician and neonatologist available 24/7, with anesthesia services also onsite round-the-clock.
  • The unit utilizes electronic fetal monitoring systems, with RNs responsible for reading their own strips.
  • Charge nurses are scheduled with no assigned patient care duties during their shift.
  • The department provides unit-specific orientation for new staff.
  • The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts within a 13-week assignment, or 3 shifts for shorter contracts.
