Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Labor and Delivery position on night shift, requiring an active MD or Compact RN license and 1-2 years of L&D experience.

Details

• Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit with fewer than 100 births per month
• Patient population includes neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
• 36 or 48-hour weekly schedules accepted
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within specialty and to Mother/Baby unit as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active MD or Compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE certifications required
• NCC C-EFM certification required in hand at time of consideration
• CPI certification required (Calm Every Storm online version only accepted vendor)
• 1-2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required; strong skillset may substitute for 2nd year
• AWHONN Advanced and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
• Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Terbutaline, and Prostaglandins
• Proficient in fetal monitoring including EFM, IUPC placement, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience with vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation and recovery, and postpartum care
• Experience with neonatal care in the delivery room, including APGAR scoring and newborn assessment

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care stages
• Support patients through pain management including epidural and general anesthesia
• Assist with sterile vaginal exams, NST/OCT testing, and obstetrical triage
• Deliver neonatal care including thermoregulation, phototherapy, and newborn hypoglycemia management
• Provide discharge teaching and lactation support to new parents
• Travelers are expected to float within their specialty with no restrictions, with priority given to floating over permanent staff
• All time-off requests must be submitted upfront with no changes permitted after offer acceptance
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
• Returning former staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 12 months
• Returning travelers must have been away from the system for at least 6 months following a prior assignment
