Job Summary Labor and Delivery (L&D) specialty nurse position located at a healthcare facility. This role involves providing comprehensive care for laboring patients, including support during vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and postpartum care. The position offers flexible shift options and the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary team environment, focusing on patient safety and clinical excellence.
Job Details
Schedule: Night shifts with 12 hours per shift, minimum of 48 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications. One year of clinical experience in Labor and Delivery or related obstetric departments.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience, patient ratio experience of 3, proficiency with Epic charting system, community hospital experience.
Float: Float rotation may be required to similar units within the scope of practice.
Additional Information: The unit supports interdisciplinary teams, including respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. The unit primarily manages neonates, with most newborns rooming in with parents as part of couplet care. Candidates should be comfortable managing laboring patients, triage, and postpartum care, including breastfeeding support and neonatal assessments. The orientation process includes onsite modules completed during designated hours.
