Job Summary: Labor and Delivery Nurse (L&D) in a high-volume acute care hospital setting. This role involves providing specialized maternity care, including assisting with sterile vaginal exams and supporting high-risk deliveries. The position requires expert-level experience and the ability to perform sterile vaginal exams independently, with a focus on supporting first-time mothers and managing complex obstetric cases.
Job Details:
Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: Certified in ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BCLS, and NRP. Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, with at least 1.5 years of expert-level practice. Must have valid license in the state (compact license accepted), and be open to working weekends and holidays. Experience must include sterile vaginal exams and high-risk obstetric care.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with electronic fetal monitoring (EFM), assisting with high-risk deliveries, and performing sterile speculum exams without supervision.
Additional Information: This role involves float between labor and mother-baby units as needed. Candidates must be flexible to work weekends, major holidays, and possible shifts exceeding every other weekend schedule to meet unit needs. The facility maintains specific staffing ratios and unit support services including interdisciplinary teams and specialized equipment.
