Job Summary Labor and Delivery (L&D) Specialist in a healthcare facility providing care to high-risk obstetric patients. The role involves functioning as a Baby Nurse during delivery, supporting postpartum care, and working in fast-paced, high-acuity environments. The position includes floating between units as needed and adhering to AWHONN guidelines.
Job Details
Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 48 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: Valid state license with a compact license in hand at submission; 1 year of experience in high-risk obstetric care; certifications including BLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and preferred certifications like Advanced (AWHONN) and Intermediate (AWHONN).
Responsibilities: Function as a Baby Nurse during deliveries, provide postpartum newborn care including eyes and thigh assessments, administer Vit K injections, support high-risk deliveries, and assist with vaginal and cesarean section births. May float between units including antepartum, postpartum, NICU, and OBED, with responsibilities adhering to AWHONN guidelines and Epic electronic fetal monitoring standards.
Additional Information: The role supports a high-volume, high-risk labor and delivery unit with approximately 550 births monthly. Requires high-risk experience and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, supporting both routine and emergency obstetric procedures. Travel experience is not required, but a minimum of 1 year of relevant clinical experience is necessary.
Submission Requirements: Must include responses regarding prior experience at Providence facilities, two references covering 1 year (6 months for CNAs) within the last 3 years, and eligibility to work under current licensure standards.
