Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Boise, Idaho. This position involves providing specialized care within the maternal health unit, including antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum services. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of obstetric care and the ability to independently manage full patient assignments, ensuring safe and effective delivery of care in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 4 x 12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:30 PM and 6:45 PM to 7:30 AM, with weekend shifts every other week.
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license, minimum of 0 years of experience, certifications including NRP, BLS, ACLS, and AWHONN fetal monitoring classes (STABLE), and a minimum of 3+ years of obstetric experience in labor and delivery, antepartum, and postpartum units.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience circulating in the operating room is preferred.
- Shift Coverage & Orientation: Orientation includes at least 1 shift at each assigned site, covering labor, delivery, postpartum, and operating room procedures.
- Responsibilities: Transitioning mothers and babies independently, managing full couplet assignments, performing car seat studies, and responding to high-risk obstetric cases such as PPROM, placenta previa, and preeclampsia.
- Operational Details: RNs are responsible for troubleshooting equipment including fetal monitors and ventilators; there are no telemonitoring techs on-site; care includes managing titratable drips such as Pitocin, insulin, and Mag.
- Team & Environment: Charge nurses are present on all shifts; staffing includes nurse aides/patient care technicians; in-house OB/Neonatology specialists 24/7, with anesthesia available at all times through a dedicated CRNA.
- Float & Coverage: Travelers will be assigned via a dedicated app, with the ability to float across specialty units as needed, including any facility in the region.
