Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse in a Level II Trauma Center located in Tacoma, WA. This position involves providing high acuity obstetric care, managing labor, delivery, and postpartum patients, including high-risk cases such as preterm labor, C-sections, and multiple births. The role requires delivering comprehensive care tailored to the needs of mother and baby, with responsibilities extending to supporting OB emergency responses and teamwork within a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 48 hours per week. The schedule operates on a 6-week cycle, with shifts running from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
  • Required Qualifications: Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN). A minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience with at least 2 years in labor and delivery, including experience with high-risk obstetric patients and charge nurse responsibilities.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous travel experience, strong interpersonal and educational skills, EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) experience, and experience in a Level II Trauma Center.
  • Additional Information: The role involves functioning as a charge nurse, assisting in urgent OB/Emergency Department scenarios, managing high-acuity patients, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. Orientation includes a comprehensive hospital and unit training, with a traditional orientation schedule.
  • Support on the Unit: CNA, scrub techs, RN resource staff, phlebotomists, and support personnel are available to assist.
  • Technology/Equipment: Familiarity with EPIC EMR system, IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, fetal surveillance monitors, epidural pumps, and SCD devices.
  • Floating: No floating for ANMs; occasional assignments within scope and experience for RNs and other staff.
  • Call Schedule: No mandatory call, with some open shift opportunities.
  • Holidays: No holidays assigned but may be available for additional shifts as needed.
  • Orientation: 6 shifts of unit orientation paired with a charge nurse, including hospital and unit training, starting 3 weeks prior to the shift schedule.
  • Scrubs: Provided by the facility, not to be worn outside the premises.
  • Parking: Free badge-access parking in designated areas.
