Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor & Delivery/LDRP position requiring L&D plus Medsurg/Peds experience at a critical access hospital.

Details

  • LDRP unit in a critical access acute care hospital setting
  • 4 L&D beds, 6 postpartum beds, and 1 separate triage bed
  • Follows AWHONN ratios of 1:1 for induction patients and 1:2 for postpartum
  • Cares for patients with labor and delivery, postpartum, hyperbilirubinemia, preterm labor, and triage needs
  • C-sections performed in the OR
  • RNs required to titrate drips including Pitocin
  • RNs monitor tele using Phillips monitors and are expected to read their own strips, with support from ICU and Charge Nurses as needed
  • EFM system used is GE
  • 1 Nurse Aid on unit from 6a-630p
  • Charge Nurse present each shift, typically without taking a patient assignment
  • OB/Neonatologist and Anesthesia on call but not in-house 24/7
  • RT available on call 24/7 for ventilators, CPAP, BiPap, High Flow, and Airvo troubleshooting
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • 12-hour night shifts (7p-730a), rotating with days every 3 weeks
  • Required to work every third weekend and every third holiday
  • Floats to Med Surg/Peds when OB census is low
  • On-call/standby requirement with 1-hour response time

Requirements

  • Active MN RN license (Standard or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required, pending certifications not accepted
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • L&D and Medsurg/Peds experience required
  • Critical access hospital experience preferred
  • Must be comfortable titrating drips such as Pitocin
  • Must be able to read fetal and cardiac monitor strips
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care across labor and delivery, postpartum, and triage areas, floating to Med Surg/Peds as needed
  • No dress code restrictions on scrub color
  • Unit orientation consists of one 12-hour shift
  • Success on this unit is supported by strong communication, motivation, and approachability
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
  • PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
  • RTO must be submitted upfront, as additional RTO requests will not be approved after submission
