Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Long Term Acute Care Med/Surg unit requiring a CT or compact license and 1-2 years of experience with medically complex rehabilitation patients.

Details

• Work in the Medical Rehabilitation Unit (MRU/CMU) providing medically complex rehabilitation care with cardiac monitoring
• Patient population includes LVAD, CVA, ABI, SCI, wounds, CAPD, and vent patients in a medical (non-traditional Med/Surg) environment
• Patient ratios are 1:7 on day/evening shifts and 1:9 on nights
• 12-hour day shifts (07:00 AM - 07:30 PM) or 5x8 schedules considered, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Floats to sister units MRU and CMU, with possible additional floating for 12-hour shift staff
• RNs are responsible for IV starts, drips, blood administration, EKGs, med titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight cath, foley care, port access, central line dressing, and wound measurements
• Ventilator management is handled by respiratory therapists, not nursing staff

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
• 1-2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel experience preferred
• Experience with respiratory/vented patients strongly preferred
• Must be willing to obtain a flu vaccination or provide a medical declination (personal or religious declinations not accepted)
