Description

American Traveler is hiring a Long Term Acute Care RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 3 years of experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Details

• Long term acute care setting serving a medical, rehab, and respiratory patient population
• Primary patient population is approximately 65% chronic vent/trach patients and 35% rehab-type patients including stroke, TBI, respiratory failure, and COPD
• 24-bed unit at the Hartford Satellite Campus
• Patient ratios range from 1:5-8, averaging 6-7 patients per nurse
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Float required to like units at the New Britain Campus, including Respiratory Care Unit/Respiratory Step Down (ratios D/E 1:9, N 1:12), MRU/CMU Medically Complex Rehabilitation with cardiac monitoring (ratios D/E 1:7, N 1:9), and TRU for TBI and medically complex chronic care (ratios D/E 1:7-10, N 1:12)
• Travelers are prioritized for float assignments
• Will not be floated to Pediatrics unless pedi-specific experience
• Respiratory therapists manage ventilators, not nursing staff

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required
• 3 years of RN experience required
• Experience with respiratory/vented patients strongly preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Willing to obtain flu vaccination or provide medical declination (personal or religious declinations not accepted)

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include IV starts, drip administration, blood administration, EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight catheterization, foley care, port access, central line dressing, and wound measurements
