Registered Nurse – LTAC / High Intensity Care Unit (HICU)

Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 36 or 48 hours per week available | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in a High Intensity Care Unit (HICU) specializing in ventilator management, pulmonary care, and acute rehabilitation
  • Monitor and manage patients with acute brain injuries, complex cardiac conditions, and chronic or complex medical conditions requiring extended care
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver 24/7 respiratory care, diagnostics, medical treatment, and rehabilitation services
  • Care for adult patients (18 years and older) in a unit accommodating up to 40 patients across 20 semi-private rooms
  • Float within the hospital as needed, remaining within scope of practice
  • Adhere to strict time and attendance policies, including mandatory holiday and blackout date coverage as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in HICU or equivalent specialty
  • Active ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Valid Maryland or Compact RN license required at time of submission
  • Professional references required
  • Ability to attend orientation (Tuesday–Friday, day shift) as scheduled
  • Must be able to work every other holiday and adhere to facility blackout date policies

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with ventilator-dependent patients and pulmonary care
  • Background in acute rehabilitation or long-term acute care (LTAC) settings
  • Familiarity with caring for patients transitioning from ICU-level care to extended multidisciplinary treatment
