Job Summary: The Mammographer I performs specialized breast imaging services on OU Health patients to aid Providers in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of breast conditions, defects, and/or diseases. This position is intended for those who are gaining experience as a Mammographer or experienced imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in Mammography. Work is typically performed in outpatient environments across OU Health locations.
Required Qualifications:
Skill in applying principles of mammography and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, positioning of patients, and medical ethics.
Foundational knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, basic mammography principles and/or radiologic technology, medical imaging, and medical terminology.
Ability to apply core mammography theory, practice, and techniques to perform examinations and complete basic post-processing analysis and documentation with general supervision or assistance.
Clear and respectful verbal and written communication skills to exchange basic information with patients, families, and team members.
Ability to prioritize and complete assigned clinical and non-clinical work tasks with guidance and direction, progressively developing independence in managing routine responsibilities.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain composed in stressful situations with guidance and support, progressively developing effective coping and prioritization skills.
Required Education:
Graduate of an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARRT.
Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
Required Certification & Licensure:
Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
ARRT(RT)(M) required within 1 year of hire.
