Job Title: Mammography Technologist Profession: Healthcare Specialty: Imaging Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience License: Associate's Degree from an accredited Radiography program Certifications: ARRT (R or M), BLS Must-Have: - ARRT Registration required upon hire - Basic Life Support certification required upon hire Description: This position is for a Mammography Technologist. Under the site designated leader, and according to established policies and procedures, the technologist performs accurate and efficient Mammography exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment. This role requires independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Technologists must demonstrate strong clinical skills and provide the best possible images for interpretation. The philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care must always be followed. Essential Functions: Perform quality Mammography exams after verification of patient identification and physician orders. Demonstrate the ability to proficiently operate Mammography imaging equipment. Obtain the highest quality images using appropriate techniques for patient positioning for screening, tomography, and diagnostic exams. Monitor patients during procedures to ensure safety. Maintain and pursue professional development per ARRT requirements. Knowledge of hospital computer software systems for charging, viewing schedules, and PACS is essential. Effectively communicate on an inter and intra-departmental level with administrative, medical staff, and peers. Clean and restock exam rooms and storerooms, and monitor department cleanliness. Actively participate in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures, completing all safety-related competencies and requirements on time. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Demands: Lifting and carrying may be required but is limited to seldom and occasionally for various weights. Standing and walking are frequently required. Specific physical tasks include pushing and pulling forces, reaching, handling, and manual dexterity. Visual acuity for detail is also necessary.
