Job Title: Mammography Technologist Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: Mammographer Duration: None specified Shift: Days Hours per Shift: None specified Experience: Minimum 2 years License: ARRT registration in Radiology (R) and Mammography (M) Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or must obtain within 90 days of hire or transfer) Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program Description: The Mammography Technologist is responsible for the quality and efficient completion of radiologic procedures for diagnostic interpretation. They are responsible for providing patient education, quality patient care, and meeting all regulatory compliance. Responsible for the daily operation of the women's health section of radiology. Responsible for suggesting changes in procedures, policies, and quality improvement. Coordinates training and development in breast imaging specialties. Adheres to all FDA guidelines for the mammography section. Maintains appropriate records for all accreditation processes and inspections. Maintains the structured reporting system to ensure accurate audit reporting, statistical tracking, and resolution of workflow issues. Ensures completion of daily QA and preventative maintenance scheduling. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of mammography imaging procedures. Performs all exams based on Imaging Department Protocols or protocols the exam with the Radiologist. Practices radiation safety, adhering to ALARA standards. Ability to operate equipment consistent with the manufacturer’s recommendations. Troubleshoots equipment problems and independently calls a service engineer if outside maintenance is needed. Verifies exam orders and identifies the patient through two means of identification. Provides exam education and reviews and documents the patient’s medical history. Obtains required informed consent and ensures all necessary paperwork and prior studies are complete. Maintains accurate patient records in EHR, including charging for procedures and supplies. May be required to perform other functions within the clinic. Demonstrates flexibility by assisting in other modalities, adjusting schedules, and taking call or holiday shifts as needed. Obtains additional training or certification as required. Assists with clerical duties, phone reception, and patient transportation when required. Trains or cross-trains imaging staff members as directed. Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision. Responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining supply inventory. Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrates full commitment to organizational values and consistently represents the organization in a positive, professional manner.
