Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mammography procedures and develop quality breast images for radiologist interpretation, evaluating patient history and physician orders to ensure appropriate exams are completed.
  • Assist physicians with special procedures including biopsies and needle localizations as needed.
  • Perform Quality Control checks on mammography equipment in accordance with American College of Radiology standards and notify supervisor of any maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the Radiology Information System to track all procedures performed.
  • Communicate with patients regarding procedures to be performed, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout the process.
  • Participate in departmental Performance Improvement Programs, attend department and modality meetings, and stay current with advancements in the field of mammography.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of Mammography Technologist experience required.
  • Active American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required.
  • Active Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification from the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) or Texas Medical Board required.
  • Active American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • ARRT Advanced Certification in Mammography highly preferred.
  • Experience with screening and diagnostic mammograms, as well as assisting with biopsies and needle localizations highly preferred.
  • Previous travel assignment experience highly preferred.
