Key Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic breast imaging procedures under general supervision, utilizing specialized mammography equipment and techniques in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.
- Prepare patients for procedures, review clinical history, and respond to patient and family inquiries regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
- Transfer images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enter technical findings, and prepare studies for physician reporting.
- Conduct post-testing quality reviews to confirm all required elements are completed, documented, and aligned with departmental and accreditation standards.
- Perform quality control checks, equipment cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with care team members, assist with onboarding of new staff, and may serve as a departmental preceptor or support radiologic students in an academic setting.
Required Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited imaging or radiology program as defined by ARRT; completion of a JRCERT-accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
- ARRT(RT)(M) certification required within 1 year of hire.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
- Foundational knowledge of mammography principles, medical imaging, medical terminology, patient positioning, and medical ethics.
- Ability to apply core mammography theory, practice, and techniques to perform examinations and complete basic post-processing analysis and documentation.
- Clear and respectful verbal and written communication skills for interaction with patients, families, and team members.
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience or background in radiologic technology with a desire to transition into or grow within the mammography specialty.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and remain composed in a clinical environment while progressively developing independence.
