Medical Surgical Float Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Medical Surgical Float Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position involves providing high-quality nursing care across various medical and surgical units.
Job Details
Shift: 7 AM - 7 PM
Schedule: Every other weekend
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Unit Information
Unit Type: Med/Surg
Float Pool: Responsibilities include floating between medical oncology, two surgical units, and two medical units.
Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:6
Number of Beds: 128
Common Diagnoses: Surgical services including colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, general, orthopedic; and medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, COPD, and gastrointestinal disorders.
Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a medical-surgical setting.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Skills: Proficient in basic medical-surgical nursing care.
Additional Information
Orientation: 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation will be provided.
Support Staff: Charge nurse will be available on each shift, and the charge nurse will take an assignment.
Patient Care Techs: Nursing assistants are present, with varying duties based on ratios.
Respiratory Support: Respiratory therapists are readily available; RNs are not required to manage ventilators.
Electronic Health Records: Transition to EPIC system planned for November 2026.
Floating: Required to float within any Med/Surg pod.
Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy scrubs are required; scrubs are not provided.
