Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Neuro RN for a 13-week travel contract at a teaching hospital and Level 2 Trauma Center, requiring at least one year of Med/Surg and Neuro experience.

Details

• Med/Surg, Neuro, and Trauma unit with approximately 60-70% Neuro patients
• Trauma patients transferred from ICU after initial stabilization
• Rotating 3x12 hour shifts, Days (0700-1930) and Nights (1900-0730)
• Day shift ratio of 1:4, Night shift ratio of 1:5
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• No floating within scope required
• Epic (Excellian) charting system used

Requirements

• Active or pending MN RN license required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience with strong Med/Surg and Neuro background required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) preferred
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration skills required; central line blood draw experience preferred
• Neurological care experience including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, substance withdrawal, and traumatic brain injury
• Feeding tube care and management skills required
• Medication administration experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA pumps preferred
• Wound care/wound vac experience preferred
• Proficiency in isolation precautions and PPE use required
• At least one supervisor reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Deliver Med/Surg and Neuro nursing care within a teaching hospital and Level 2 Trauma Center setting
• Provide care for complex trauma and neurological patients transitioning from ICU
• May float to an affiliate hospital nearby if needed
• Navy scrub color required
• Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility, except for Radiology positions
• RTO requests ideally limited to no more than 5 days
• Former Allina perm staff or per diem employees must have a 3-month gap since their last shift to be eligible
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Compliance documentation, including certifications and license verification, must be completed prior to start
