Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Neuro RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit specializing in neuro surgical procedures and neurological diagnoses
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Contract lengths from 13-26 weeks accepted
• Floating required
• 12-16 weekend shifts required per contract, with some flexibility discussed with candidate
• Uses Pyxis for medication administration, SBAR for communication, and Epic for documentation
• May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required (pending license/certs OK for submission)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Neuro experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Experience with telemetry, CVA/neurological care, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, and peripheral IV therapy
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical nursing care to neuro surgical and neurological patients
• Two orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation
• Navy scrubs required
• Pre-start modules required (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles), completed online and annually
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• RTO limited to 7 days maximum with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose either travel or per diem status
• First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for consideration
