Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg-Neuro unit requiring 2 years of experience, BLS certification, and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical Surgical - Neuro unit caring for neuro surgical and neuro diagnosis patients
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 18:45-07:15
• 36 or 48 hour contracts accepted
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6
• Float required
• Weekend requirement of 12-16 shifts per contract, with some flexibility
• Uses Pyxis for medication, SBAR for communication, and EPIC for documentation
• May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license (pending license/certs OK for consideration)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
• 2 years of RN experience required, neuro experience preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Skills in neurological/psychiatric care, CVA management, isolation precautions/PPE, telemetry, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, and peripheral IV therapy
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years (pending OK at submission, required at start)

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical nursing care to neuro surgical and neuro diagnosis patients
• 2 orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation
• Navy scrubs required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Travel pairs are allowed, provided they are on different units and have their own transportation
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday, with no RTO during the first week of assignment
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a lower rate
• Longer contracts through 2/7/2026 will be considered
