Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Neuro RN for a night shift position requiring NIHSS certification and NM or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 32-bed Medical Surgical Neuro unit
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (18:30-07:00)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Rapid response team activation duties
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to like units within scope as needed, with brief orientation provided
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts within a 6-week period
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license, New Mexico or Compact, required prior to start
• BLS and NIHSS certification required
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent relevant experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, and peripheral line care
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management, HFNC, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care
• CVA (stroke) care experience preferred
• Medication administration experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE knowledge
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Surgical drain management skills

• Provide comprehensive med/surg care to a neurological patient population
• First-time travelers considered if they have at least 24 months of nursing experience
• Travel pairs or groups not accepted
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
• Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Up to 3 days of RTO auto-approved; no RTO permitted during first week of orientation
