Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Renal RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring 2 years of acute care and renal experience with a compact or LA RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg-Renal unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Common diagnoses include AKI, CKD, ESRD, DM, COVID+, COPD exacerbation, wound infections, PVD/PAD, GI bleed, clotted AV fistulas, and cellulitis
• Care involves general medicine and surgical procedures such as cholecystectomy, appendectomy, wound debridements, central line and dialysis access placements, and amputations
• Uses remote telemetry monitoring by tele tech, wound vacs, Pyxis, SBAR, and EPIC
• Peritoneal dialysis managed by patient and dialysis nurse
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
• Floating required, with agency staff pulled first
• No call-in shifts

Requirements

• Active RN license (Louisiana or Compact) required in hand at time of submission
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years acute care experience required, including renal experience
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skills needed include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, wound care/wound vac management, and IV insulin protocols
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical and renal nursing care, including dialysis access management and wound care
• May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring extended stay at the facility during emergency events, per unit manager direction
• Orientation held five days a week
• Facility does not accept local candidates; must live more than 65 miles from the facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply with required experience
• Previous permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation from the facility before returning as a travel employee
• RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
