Travel Nursing Job Details

• Scheduling: Every other weekend and holiday rotation; block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Floating: May float between assigned medical-surgical units
• Uniform: Navy scrubs; fleece and sweatshirts are not permitted

Travel RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Tennessee
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Demonstrated proficiency with IV starts, nasogastric tube placement, wound care, and laboratory draws
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and recognize telemetry changes
• Strong patient and family communication skills with a positive, service-focused approach
• Ability to work collaboratively with nursing assistants, unit secretaries, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary team members

Med/Surg Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients throughout the assigned shift
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, administer medications, and monitor patient responses
• Start IVs, complete laboratory draws, place nasogastric tubes, and provide wound care
• Monitor telemetry and accurately recognize and communicate cardiac rhythm changes
• Manage and monitor equipment including wound vacs, infusion pumps, feeding pumps, glucometers, bladder scanners, and suction devices
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Partner with patients and families to address needs, provide education, and support positive outcomes
• Escalate clinical or service concerns through the appropriate chain of command
• Float between designated medical-surgical units as needed while maintaining quality and continuity of care
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations according to scheduling requirements
