Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and provide general care for a 36-bed Medical Surgical unit with a 1:4 to 1:5 patient ratio
• Manage and maintain wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, drains, chest tubes, and care for patients experiencing strokes or seizures
• Operate and monitor PD Cyclers, Alaris IV pumps, and administer Heparin drips; support patients requiring dialysis or PCA pumps
• Provide post-operative care for patients following amputations, ostomy procedures, oral surgeries, and wound vac placements
• Conduct bedside shift reports, perform safety checks every 1–2 hours, and maintain focus on communication and responsiveness
• Adhere to 100% medication scanning (including controlled substances), HAI prevention protocols, fall prevention measures, and CVC/Foley monitoring with standard precautions

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Proficiency with Meditech documentation system preferred; must be able to adapt quickly
• Ability to fulfill scheduling requirements including 4 weekend shifts per 4-week block and floating over core staff as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with PD Cyclers, Hoyer Lifts, Welch Allyn VS Carts, and Alaris IV pumps
• Familiarity with post-operative care including chest tubes, wound vacs, and drain management
• Experience caring for stroke and seizure patient populations
• Background in HAI prevention practices including CVC and Foley catheter monitoring
